Situated on the slopes of Table Mountain, St Cyprian's School, founded in 1871, is widely recognized as one of South Africa's leading independent girls' school. The boarding house is residence and home-away- from- home to just over 100 girls from elsewhere in South Africa, Africa and the rest of the world. Here more than 16 different languages are spoken, creating a vibrant, international atmosphere in the house. The school is firmly centred in the Anglican faith and the chaplain is a full-time staff member who is available to all children and personnel. St Cyprian’s is a founder member of Round Square Conference of Schools in Southern Africa, a prestigious association of over 65 international schools all over the world which strives to provide learners with exceptional opportunities for personal development, leadership and internationalism. The aim of the school choir is to expose the girls to a wide variety of choral repertoire, to help them develop as musicians and to teach them to strive for excellence. During the last few years the choir has had great success in local eisteddfods and competitions, has taken part in a performance of Karl Jenkins’ The Peacemakers and has performed at opening events of international conferences at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. One of the choir’s main functions is also to perform at important school and chapel events.
