Children's choir of Velenje music school was founded more than 30 years ago. Since 1987 its conductor is Manja Gošnik Vovk. The choir consists of children aged 6 to 11 years, most of them are pupils of Velenje Music School. Since they are mostly pianists and guitarists, the choir singing is one of the rare opportunities to experience making music in a group. After passing they age limit, children can continue to enjoy choir singing in a school's youth choir and later in the choir of local high school center. Children's choir of Velenje music school is one of the top national choirs in their category practicly since its beginnings. Since 1994 the choir won ten golden awards (last one in 2016) and was six times proclamated as the best children's choir at the Slovene national children's and youth choirs competition in Zagorje. On international level choir won four golden awards. As a result of a long and hard work the choir released CDs: »Veseli otrok« ('Happy child'), Pisana račka (»Painted duck«), »Z igro v čarobni svet glasbe« (»With the game to the magical world of music«).
She graduated from the Music Academy in Ljubljana, piano and music education. Since 1978 she has worked at the Music School Fran Korun Koželjski Velenje, where she has been teaching the piano and conducting the children's choir. Since 2007/2008 she has been the conductor of the Women's Choir of the Retirement Society, and an active singer and rehearsal coach of the Academic Choir of Velenje until the season 2015/2016; she conducts the choir of the Carmina Slovenica Singing School and the Junior Choir Carmina Slovenica. In 2008 she was bestowed recognition from the Mayor of the Municipality of Velenje for her successful educational and artistic work as well as her contribution to the recognition of the Municipality of Velenje. In 2014 the Association of Slovene Music Schools awarded her with the Fran Gerbič recognition for her remarkable success in the field of music education and music interpretation.Back to the list of ensembles
