Dear lover of choral and orchestral music,

We would like to invite you to participate in the VIII. International Festival SlOVAKIA CANTAT 2014  to be held in Bratislava on 24 - 27 April 2014.

The Slovak capital Bratislava opens its gates and invites choirs to its charming centre in the spring. We are inviting choirs and orchestras from all over the world; your songs and performances will contribute to a truly spring atmosphere in Bratislava.

The festival will be managed by the Bratislava Music Agency, under the patronage of the city of Bratislava.

Choirs are eligible to join the festival either as non-competitive choirs participating in all the performances of the festival, or as competitive choirs.

DEADLINE FOR SENDING IN APPLICATIONS FOR THE FESTIVAL IS DECEMBER 15, 2013.

According to the number of acquired points, the international jury will award

COMPETITION RULES

♦  One piece in the programme must be a cappella. The others can be with piano. Time limit is 15 min music time.

♦  The time limit for orchestras is 20 minutes. Repertoire can be participant’s own choice.

♦  Each choir and orchestras will receive a diploma certifying the results. The jury may award

♦ other special prizes; for instance for programme dramaturgy, voice production or original interpretation.

♦  The jury shall not issue any other evaluation of a choir‘s performance in writing. Jury decisions are final, no appeals may be made.

♦  The registration fee of a choir: 1 contest category makes 250 EUR, each next one contest category makes 200 EUR .
For participation in the festival without participation in the competition 150 EUR.

♦  The given registration fee is not paid back in the case of cancellation of the application.

Departure from Bratislava

Choir & Orchestras  Performance during Festival:

♦  A) 20 minutes of secular, sacred or folk music,
♦  B) 20 minute orchestras program.

♦  The organizer reserves the right to use video and sound records from the festival.

ACCOMMODATION AND BOARD:

Each choir including the conductor, accompanying people and bus drivers shall pay their travel expenses, expenses on accommodation and food.

The package price includes:

•  3x night and breakfast in hotel

• guidance during the whole stay

• Bratislava sightseeing tour

• opening concert for participants

• public concert performance for participating choirs

• final ceremony with cultural programme

• information material

The organizers reserve the right to arrange accommodation and catering of the participating choirs.

Application deadline: 15 December 2012

Applications can be sent from 1st March 2012 to 15th December 2012. The application must be filled in electronically - here: Application Form

After receiving the application form, each accepted participating group will be contacted by email and receive an official confirmation of participation.

The application shall be enclosed with the following:

• Complete application form
• Competition program (name of the composition, composer full name, length of the compositions)
• Sound record of the choir not older than 3 years (a CD or a tape)
• Choir, orchestra and conductor curricula (10 lines)
• Choir, orchestra and conductor photo
• 5 copies of score for competition works
• A copy of money order or bank transfer confirming payment for the festival fee.

Important dates

♦  February 15, 2013 - Deadline for the first payment for room and board - 50%
♦  March 21, 2013 - Deadline for the final payment for room and board.
