FESTIVAL SCHEDULE 2010

 Dear young musician,

It is our pleasure to extend this invitation to the second annual International Musical Youth Festival, which will take place July 7-10, 2011, in the city of Bratislava , capital of the Slovak   Republic .

 

We invite musically inclined youth from around the world to contribute their talents in the following categories: children and youth orchestras, vocal ensembles, traditional music, folk music, brass and string orchestras, or a combination of both vocal and instrumental choirs. The groups may participate in a competitive or non-competitive setting.

 

During the duration of the festival, students will at once benefit from, and at the same time contribute to the rich cultural atmosphere of the

 

city. Bratislava is widely recognized as a city of music, in addition to its fame as a city of rich cultural and artistic heritage. Each choir will have ample opportunities to perform in concert halls, beautifully ornate churches, and outdoor settings in the historical center of the city, all boasting exceptional acoustics.

 

In addition to these musical performances, each group will be treated to recreational and sightseeing points of interest in the surrounding area. We offer guided tours of the famous Redstone   Castle , a boat tour to Devin Castle, a tour of the historical town of Trnava , and a nearby state of the art aqua park, in the town of Senec .

 

The goal of this summer festival is simply to bring together talented young musicians from around the world in an effort that will prove mutually beneficial to all. This unique musical and cultural experience is sure to inspire musicians as they perform and learn together in Bratislava – the city of dreams.

A6: Youth choirs up to 35 years ( sopranos, altos, tenors, bassos)

A7: Free ensembles: vocal jazz, spiritual and gospel

A8: Folksong  a cappella

A9:  Folksong with instrumental accompaniment

A10: Sacred Music  a cappella

A11: Non- competitive choirs

 

B: Children’s orchestras up to 16 years

B1: Ensembles with free instrumentation

B2: Mixed ensembles: instrumental or vocal-instrumental ensembles

B3: Non- competitive orchestras

C: Category: Youth orchestras up to 21 years

C1. Symphony orchestras

C2. String Orchestras

C3. Symphonic bands, fanfares and brass band

C4. Ensembles with free instrumentation

C5: Mixed ensembles: Folk music ensembles (instrumental or vocal-  instrumental ensembles)

D: Category: Youth Orchestras up to 35 years

D6:Non- competitive orchestras

 

The performance time limit for choirs is 15 minutes; a piano is available.

The time limit for orchestras is 20 minutes.

Repertoire can be participant’s own choice.

DIPLOMAS

According to the number of acquired points, the international jury will award

Bronze certificate	15 - 19.9 points
Silver certificate	20 - 24.9 points
Gold certificate	25 - 29.9 points
Grand Prix SLOVAKIA CANTAT	30 points

 

PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS

• Each choir including the conductor, accompanying persons and bus drivers shall pay its travel expenses, expenses on accommodation and food by itself.
• The registration fee of a choir: 1 contest category makes 200 EUR, each next one contest category makes 150 EUR .
• The given registration fee is not paid back in the case of cancellation of the application.
• For participation in the festival without participation in the competition 100 EUR.

Each choir including the conductor, accompanying people and bus drivers shall pay its own travel expenses, expenses on accommodation and food.

The organizer shall reserve the right to arrange accommodation and catering of the participating choirs.

The application shall be enclosed with the following:

1. Completed application form
2. Competition program (name of the composition, composer full name, length of the compositions)
3. Sound record of the choir not older than 3 years (a CD or a tape)
4. Choirs ar conductor description
5. A picture of the choir at conductor
6. 3 copies of score for competition works
7. A copy of money order or bank transfer confirming payment for the festival fee.

 

Important dates

• May 15, 2011 - Deadline for the first payment for room and board - 50%
• June 15, 2011 - Deadline for the final payment for room and board.
