CHIJ St Nicholas Girls' Choir (Secondary)
CHIJ St Nicholas Girls' School is a Catholic convent with a history of 75 years.
Each year, St Nicholas Girls' School arranges enriching and fun-filled activities for our choir members, allowing each and everyone to develop her talent and potential to their fullest. Having weekly choir practices on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons also helps to bond the choir members together. We perform at concerts and participate in national as well as international competitions in order to provide our members with ample exposure and experience.
In 2004, the St Nicholas Girls' choir went to Italy to participate in the International Choral Festival ‘Orlando di Lasso'. 2 years after that, the choir went to Czech Republic, Olomouc, and participated in the International Festival of Songs. We managed to top the "C Superior" Children's choir category, and attained Gold. We did equally well in the "H1" Sacred music category, topping it and also achieving Gold. In 2007, we achieved Gold with Honours in the Singapore Youth Festival Choir Competition.
Our choir is conducted by Miss Lim Ai Hooi. She has brought many choirs overseas to give them more exposure as well as more chances to perform and accumulate experience while participating in international competitions. These choirs have been achieving Gold and Silver awards at the International Choral Competitions. In Dec 2002, Miss Lim was awarded ‘The Best Conductor for Training Youth Choirs" at the International Christmas and Advent Choral Competition in Prague.
Miss Lim Ai Hooi joined our choir in the year 2004 after Mrs. Susanna Koh, who had been previously conducting us, left for Malta. Under Miss Lim's guidance, we hope to continue achieving greater heights.
