ALIS Choir was founded in 2023 on the initiative of Pastor Erika Sokola from the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession (ECAV) in Slovakia, Bratislava - Staré Mesto. This 20-member female choir is conducted by Yelyzaveta Yanko, a native of Ukraine and a fifth-year student of choir conducting at the Composition and Conducting Department at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. The name ALIS comes from the Latin word "ala, alae" (wing, wings). When read in reverse, it forms the word "sila" (strength in Slovak). Its repertoire consists mainly of sacred songs, performed in both classical and modern renditions, in three- or four-part choral harmonies. ALIS Choir sings at church services and choral gatherings organized by ECAV. In 2024, the choir was awarded a silver plaque award at the competition of Slovak Evangelical choirs in the Western District of ECAV.
