Musica al Cuore

Musica al Cuore is an international mixed choir based in Bratislava-Lamač, where it has been active since 2023. It brings together singers of different nationalities, generations, and musical backgrounds, united by a shared passion for choral music and a common ambition to continually develop their artistic and interpretative skills. The choir was founded by Petra Mitašíková of Comenius University Bratislava and currently collaborates with several music educators: Iva Harmanovská, Anastasia Lukashchuk, Ladislav Šipeky and Nadiia Danchuk. A distinctive feature of Musica al Cuore is its combination of artistic ambition and an open international community. The choir sees making music together not only as a path towards artistic and interpretative growth, but also as a space where cultures can meet, mutual understanding can flourish, and the joy of music can be shared. The choir’s repertoire encompasses sacred and secular choral works by Slovak and international composers, arrangements of folk songs, spirituals, jazz, as well as works inspired by musical theatre, film, and popular music. An important part of its artistic direction is the stylistic and linguistic diversity of its repertoire, systematic work on vocal technique, and the development of programmes that connect Slovak musical traditions with contemporary European and international choral music. Musica al Cuore performs regularly in Bratislava and beyond and, during its relatively short yet intensive history, has appeared at numerous independent and collaborative concerts, cultural events, international choral festivals, and competitions. The choir also develops its artistic activities through collaborations with other choirs, orchestras, conductors, and musicians. At the Bratislava Cantat II. 2026 festival, Musica al Cuore presents a repertoire that reflects its current artistic direction – ranging from sacred choral works, Slovak music, and folk-inspired compositions to jazz and classical works by renowned composers from around the world.

Conductor / Leader
1st Conductor: Mgr. Iva Harmanovská Mgr. Iva Harmanovská studied Cultural Management and German Language at Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra and has performed with a number of distinguished artistic ensembles. She began her musical journey as a member of the Bratislava Children’s Choir under the direction of Elena Šarayová. She studied piano, dance and singing and performed with the representative dance ensembles Technik, Karpaty and Dopravár, as well as with the Lúčnica Artistic Ensemble, both in its dance school and choir. She has taken part in numerous performances in Slovakia and abroad. During her assignments abroad, she represented Slovakia for four years in the United States, two years in Cuba and three years in Iran. While living in New York, she performed with the Limbora Artistic Ensemble, initially as a member and later as its choreographer. She now brings the artistic knowledge and experience she has acquired over the years to the Musica al Cuore Choir, where she works as a music educator, conductor and movement choreographer. She currently serves as the choir’s Artistic Director. 2nd Conductor: Mgr. Anastasiia Lukaschcuk Mgr. Anastasiia Lukaschcuk completed her studies in Choral Conducting at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava in 2024. She has been collaborating with the Musica al Cuore Choir since that year. She contributes to the choir’s musical preparation, repertoire rehearsals, and concert and festival performances. As a music educator and conductor, she is gaining her first professional experience with the international Musica al Cuore Choir. In 2025, she conducted the choir at several concerts alongside Natalia Gončarenko, and she currently works alongside Iva Harmanovská, the Artistic Director of Musica al Cuore. She also teaches piano at an elementary art school in Bratislava.
