The Cultural and Artistic Association Veseli Međimurci from Čakovec was founded in 1949, and the Women's Vocal Ensemble started in 2009. The ensemble is dedicated to preserving and performing the traditional vocal heritage of Međimurje, as well as folk songs from other regions of Croatia. Over the years, the ensemble has earned numerous Gold and Silver Awards at regional and national choral and folklore competitions, reflecting its high artistic standards and continued success. In collaboration with the Međimurje County Tamburitza Orchestra and the Varaždin Tamburitza Orchestra, the ensemble regularly presents annual concert productions, including its traditional Christmas programme, Christmas Across Croatia, celebrating the rich musical heritage of the country's diverse regions. Today, Veseli Međimurci is a well-established presence on Croatia's folklore scene and is a frequent guest at festivals and cultural events throughout Croatia and abroad. In 2021, the ensemble released its debut album, El me čuješ grličica ("Can You Hear Me, Little Turtledove"), featuring traditional songs from Međimurje, Hrvatsko Zagorje, Podravina, Moslavina, Baranja, and Slavonia. Since January 2024, the ensemble has been under the artistic direction of Tibor Bün.
