The choir consists of students mostly from the Primorska region studying at the University of Ljubljana. It was founded in November 1953 after students spontaneously sang in a Ljubljana pub called Činkole. Over more than 70 years, the choir has toured across most of Europe, as well as North America and South Africa. They regularly perform at major national and international choral festivals and competitions. The choir has worked with many distinguished conductors throughout its history. Its first conductor was Anton Nanut, followed in 1958 by Marko Munih. The ensemble is dedicated to the tradition of male choral singing and renews about one third of its members each year. Its mission is to preserve a high standard of male choral music in Slovenia and educate young singers. In 2023, the choir marked its 70th anniversary with a celebratory concert in Vipava. Recently, they won a silver award at the Naša pesem competition.
