The Academic Choir of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice was established in 1945, performing early and contemporary music, folk arrangements and major works for orchestra, soloists and choir. Since 1980 the Choir has been organising Czesław Freund's Choral Festival in Gliwice. The most significant events in recent choir history are: - Gold Diplomas in the ‘Adult Mixed Choirs’ and ‘Sacred Music’, a special mention for the best performance of a piece by a contemporary composer, the award for best conductor, and the Grand Prix for best choir at the Leonardo da Vinci International Choral Festival in Florence, Italy (2022) - Gold Diplomas and podium places at the 14th International Cançó Mediterrània Festival and the Pau Casals Competition in Lloret de Mar, Spain (2025) - The City of Gliwice Award in the field of culture for its lifetime achievement and the promotion of choral music (2025) - The Award of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of its activity. The choir has also had the opportunity to collaborate with ensembles and institutions of the highest calibre, including the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, the AUKSO Chamber Orchestra and the ‘A’ Theatre. The Choir recorded several albums including jazz “Missa Nova” composed by M. Maliszczak and Józef Skrzek’s album Non omnis moriar (2025)
