Founded in 1980, the Tartu Karlova Children's Choir, composed of girls aged 11-13, has garnered notable achievements under the leadership of conductor Vilve Maide and choirmaster Imbi Goldman. The choir's influence extends to Estonian Radio and Estonian Television, actively participating in Song Festivals of Tartu and Estonia, South-Estonian singing days, and various musical events. On the international stage, the choir has consistently excelled: In 1993, they secured a golden medal at the 'Tampere Sävel' choir competition. In 2002, the choir achieved 1st place in an international competition of Christmas carols, with Ave-Maria Sild's Christmas carol 'Jõuluootus' earning them second place. In 2006, they clinched 1st place in the Estonian national competition of children's choirs in Türi. The year 2007 saw the choir attain 2nd place in international competitions in Daugavpils ('Silver Bells') and Bratislava ('Musica Sacra'), as well as the final competition of the European Broadcasting Union in Wupperthal, Germany. In 2016, they achieved 3rd place in an international choir competition in Kaunas, Lithuania. Under the dedicated leadership of conductor Vilve Maide and choirmaster Imbi Goldman, the Tartu Karlova Children's Choir has flourished since its founding in 1980. Vilve Maide, who assumed the role of conductor in 2012, has guided the choir with passion and expertise.
