Currently Second Associate Concertmaster of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Wang Liang was born into a musical family in Shenyang, China, and studied with Professor Lin Yaoji at the Central Conservatory of Music on a full scholarship. One of Hong Kong’s most popular violinists, he maintains an active solo career, performing at major venues and festivals in Hong Kong, China, and internationally. Recent highlights include recital tours, performances of the Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto and Saint-Saëns’ Violin Concerto No. 3, and appearances with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. Wang has appeared as guest concertmaster, soloist, and orchestra leader with renowned ensembles in Asia and Europe. Dedicated to music education, he teaches at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and Hong Kong Baptist University, conducts the Belilios Public School String Orchestra, and serves as guest professor at the Shenyang Conservatory of Music. He regularly gives masterclasses, adjudicates major competitions, and contributes to charitable music initiatives. In 2021, he recorded all 24 Paganini Caprices, showcasing his exceptional technical command and artistry. Wang performs on fine violins by Giovanni Grancino and Stefano Scarampella and is currently sponsored as a Friend of LARSEN Strings.
