The “Soloists of FMU” Chamber Orchestra was founded by Prof. Velko Todevski in 1999. Its members are mainly students from the String Instruments Department of the Faculty of Music Arts in Skopje. Besides its pedagogical function, the orchestra has become a very important participant in the Macedonian music scene. In addition to the concerts at the end of each semester, the orchestra also participates in many other cultural events organized in the country and abroad. Some of the more important events include performances at the “Skopje Summer Festival,” “Autumnal Festivities Festival,” “Days of Macedonian Music Festival,” “Niš Music Festivities,” and the “Interfest Festival,” etc. The repertoire of the orchestra comprises compositions from all musical periods and styles, often including first performances of new pieces by contemporary Macedonian composers. The orchestra has collaborated with many domestic and foreign soloists, as well as with other ensembles.
